I was born in 1950 and was brought up to go to church. On Sunday mornings we had
to walk the 2 miles to church against an easterly wind though a very smoky Blackburn.
I had an asthmatic condition so all of this did not help my health.
Life at home wasn’t easy; I didn’t do well in school and it turned out I had a condition
called Narcolepsy but very little was known about it in those days. In early 1960
my mother became ill with epilepsy and her fits were so frightening.
I started going to another church and that was where I began to learn about God and
the words from the Bible which kept speaking to me were from 1 John 5:12 and 13,
“He who has the Son has life….” I can remember making a commitment to God while I
was there, asking Jesus to forgive me for my sins and to come into my life. This
was shortly after my mother died.
Gradually God started working in my life. During my first marriage, which was not
an easy time, I realised that God had a plan and a purpose for my life. I remember
after my wife passed away I had a vision of a torch being passed on to me.
Many times during my life I have known God at work in my life, prompting me to speak
to others about Him.
Towards the end of 1993 I felt God telling me it was time to marry again. Shortly
after that I met Steph and I realised God had brought us together. By October 1994
we were married. God has blessed me with a Christian partner and together we seek
to serve Him in our church and tell others of His love and His faithfulness.
